This purge has been completed. Thread will remain open for discussion on the subject. (OP left intact for reference.)
As most of you should know by now every time any of the crews nears 1000 members we clear everyone out and start again to keep the most active members in at all times. The PC crew is has hit this milestone for the ninth time since creation. The details of the purge can be seen in the community guidelines post with more info on the reasons behind why this was introduced in this video. If you're reading this and you aren't a crew rep or higher (2 bars or more on the crew tag) or an 'Active Representative' (see below), regardless of how active you are in game or on the forums, then you will be kicked on the date of the next purge. It's very easy to be promoted to crew rep by following all the instructions here (<<< CLICK THE LINK). Once you do that and you're promoted you won't be kicked when the next purge comes along. If you do get kicked don't worry though, all you have to do is simply re-join as the crew remains open to all. If you're waiting to get into the crew, free spots will become open on the day of the purge. The date for the purge is Wednesday, August 3rd. Myself and others will be spreading the link to this post on the crew page regularly. Also to those who are active in the crew and posting regularly - if you see anyone asking questions about why they were kicked after this happens please link them to this post. There's only so much we can do beforehand but, some people will miss this post. And if there's anyone you know who you talk to regularly who doesn't know about this make sure to link it to them. Previous PC Purges: - December 7th, 2015
- January 25th, 2016
- February 22nd, 2016
- March 28th, 2016
- May 9th, 2016
- June 13th, 2016
- July 5th, 2016
- July 18th, 2016
Posting in this thread does nothing. Follow the instructions above.

Start of discussion:
So, this is a muscle purge only, Representatives you are safe for now. The PC crew is filling up insanely fast, it's only been 10 days since the biggest purge ever (650 cleared) and we're back at capacity. We are discussing many possible solutions, but nothing was ready yet, so just a normal purge this time around. Happy to hear if you have ideas for us as well.

I know a second PC crew is everything else than optimal, but maybe a temporary one is needed. As soon as the number of active players goes down again you could purge both crews and then tell the members of crew 2 to join the original crew.
PSA: As mentioned multiple time throughout these purges, an increase in member size (e.g to 2'000) is not possible for this crew. The commissioners would lose all control over the SC crew and basically anyone could join (and this is something most of us don't want).

Can you put something in your post Baron that says a second crew is emphatically never up for consideration please don't bring it up again? As a solution... why not have the crew on invite only, with a message on the R*SC page to register here on the forums for an invite? You're basically doing this anyway, except backwards - you let them sign up to the crew and then purge them every couple of weeks if they don't register on the forums. So it's not really a radical change.

There's a large number of people who never use the forums, never use teamspeak, and never get promoted. I've named them 'serial muscles', and they come for finding races with randoms which is fine, but it's something we're thinking of addressing.

Ok but that shouldn't impact on actual/core NoDo...

Random ideas w/o judging or deep thinking about it:
Two crews: one prefers contact racing, the other prefers non-contact racing. Two crews: one invite only, you will get invited by the playlist/event hosts as soon as you sign up for NoDo events or playlists, the other crew stays open with the same system as now (forum account -> Rep -> relatively save from purges)

I've named them 'serial muscles', and they come for finding races with randoms which is fine, but it's something we're thinking of addressing. Also aparently some of them don't really care about the community guidlines when say a fellow crew member has a bounty on his/her head, which is something that comes with a free to join-crew. Having it as an invite-thing would most certainly help in that respect. Looking at events and daily playlists, which mostly are not really reliant on the crew anyways (apart from needed rep-status to host) from what I know, my idea is as follows: Make a crew membership completely optional for those who are only in for events (participation and hosting) and daily playlists and are not interested in random invites. This should give more room for people who actually USE the functions the crew provides. Make the crew invite only, but with a requirement that can be met by reading the guidelines without the necessarity to sign up to the forums (like making a certain post on the social club, or entering their username into a form like the one Baron used for the rep purge). That should ensure people actually read at least parts of the guidelines and don't just join the crew as fanboys. Maybe this way you could also establish an automatic blacklist, just in case.

Crews will never be invite only. The open to join for all policy is what a lot of people (including myself) really appreciate, and makes the crew accessable for all skill-levels.

But simply having a thing in the guidelines that says "put our name in this form for an invite" keeps it open for all skill levels, while making sure that members are familiar with the rules, so that you don't have the situation I had literally 2 minutes ago where I was going around Los Santos on a Scorcher before getting killed by a crewmate.

You can always point out that they should not treat other crew members like other GTA players and if they don't change their behavior, they must face the consequences (i.e. you report them to one of the commissioners and they decide what to do).

Yes, that works for individual situations but the invite only system would hopefully eliminate the less aware crew members altogether and it cuts down on crew size as a bonus

My main concern is the "I've read the terms of service" lie. Most people who just want to be a part of the crew and don't care about the guidelines, would put their name in the form without even looking at the title...

Would it be worth adding a minimum duration between purges of lets say 4 weeks so that the admins are not having to deal with new people like me quite so often?
Do you think the volumes of people trying to join will stay the same, increase or decrease after a couple of months? If the number is going to increase then it seems to me like a second crew would be required but I don't know what would be the best way to organise it, maybe have the existing nodo and then a nodo events crew.
I think this is true plus someone has to process the invites.
